Hey, Mark! The game is great but, aside from the award shows, i feel like the success/quality of the albums and songs are only measured by the numbers and sometimes the best albums end up winning no awards. My suggestion would be to create like a press section, with reviews from some of the albums and then end-of-year and end-of-decade lists. That way an album could be recognized. Even if it was not a commercial success, it could be critically aclaimed. My second suggestion is to have something related with the artist's fashion on the award shows. The game could have a section dedicated to red carpet of the award shows. The best dressed artists would appear on a "best dressed" list after the show and it would have a positive impact on their hype. This could be based on the fashion stats of the artist.
