After the release of her debut album, Become, Jin wanted her next album to include songs that were more relevant to her. She decided that she wanted to make a record that was dance and pop with lyrics that are more relatable than her first album.
The album was a commercial success, it won the Best Dance Album at the APRA Australian Music Awards.
The album had an income of over £59M, more than her debut album had delivered.

With the commercial success of the previous album, History, Jin wanted to release a record that would have people talking about what she was writing about. She made a pop album to return to her signature sound and decided to write more mature songs such as "Hand Grenade" "Security Of The First World" "You Just Get Better All The Time" and "Waiting For The Sirens Call" 
The album however didn't match the success of the previous album. Though still a success people were questioning if Jin had already reached her peak.

After Commencing was released, the record label were slightly disappointed from the sales, however, Jin was ready to make the next album, She made an R&B record that was self titled because it was her most personal album yet. Jin wrote songs about the press "Without Them" and relationships "Lonely" "Missing You" "I Want You Now" and "I Just Want You" people thought that she was going far away from her genre and that people would become confused by her newest sound.
