Debut EP: Long Way To Go [1997]

Australia is often thought of as one of the scariest countries in the world - but in 1997 it was the band "The Wolves" that changed the perspective completely, going from once a dangerous country to one of the best music producing one within 5 years.

The Wolves started with 4 Band Members.

Guitarist: Lorin Hemmer

Vocals: Timmothy Bliss

Bassist: Ozzie Gallacher

Drummer: Lesley Stump

It was a couple of days that Turtle Records began hiring writers for the band so they could focus on the band relationship at the time. The songs written in 1997 were:

Long Way To Go

I Am Building

Responsible

Having just over 5 Million in the budget from investors for the newly formed Turtle Records - They pushed The Wolves to make their first EP.

"Long Way To Go"

Released: October 27, 1997

Track Listing:

1. Long Way To Go

2. I Am Building

3. Responsible

Album Quality: 61

And it was with the EP now finished that the Band released their first single

"Long Way To Go"

Released 14 July, 1997

AUS: #95 [Peak #91]

US: #67 [Peak #67]

JAP: #65 [Peak #65]

UK: #75 [Peak #69]

Being the first single, the record company didn't expect it to chart due to the quality of their first EP - Having some relative success in foreign countries, it was within the week of the chart position that the band was told to release a music video - the music video then went ahead to be then filmed in Sydney.

Knowing that the band could have more success with another single, the record company pushed out another single

It was a few days before the release of the single that The Wolves were offered a Movie soundtrack placement for the movie "My Boys Are Good Boys", having the chance to do so - they used the song "I Am Building" as a promotional single for the movie - several days before they released their new single

"Responsible"

Released 28 September, 1997

AUS: #124 [Peak #124]

US: #87 [Peak: #60]

JAP: #92 [Peak: #66]

UK: #84 [Peak #67]

It wasn't before long that the band released their first EP

"Long Way To Go"

Released: October 27, 1997

AUS: #24 [Peak: #24]

US: #35 [Peak: #35]

JAP: #27 [Peak: #27]

UK: #37 [Peak: #37]

Having a moderate success with the band - Turtle Records Decided to get them writing once again for the new EP they wanted to hope to release in October 1998

"In Colour" - Album (Nov. 1997 - December 1998)

In 1997, Turtle Records once again pushed The Wolves out to start making more music, hiring more writing and expanding their horizons now that investors had a bigger budget. During the writing session in November of 1997, the songs written were:

In Colour

Good Girls

Angel In Disguise

Always Where I Need To Be

Low

Draw You

Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy

Cry Baby

Sink or Swim

Smoke That Stuff

Skin And Bones

Fall To Pieces

Dance Like You never Have

The Song

Fade With Our Voices

Brown Skin Lady

Millionaires For Life

Lover

Hustle

This Time Around - hoping that with luck and a bit of a gamble - Turtle Records along with the band's consent would release all four of the EP songs as singles before releasing the EP as a whole. The EP's Production began in Mid-December.

The First Single was released on the 9th of February of 1998.

"Angel In Disguise"

Released February 9, 1998

AUS: #152 [Peak: #150]

US: #70 [Peak: #69]

UK: #72 [Peak: #69]

JAP: #62 [Peak: #62]

During that time, Management refused the band to Make another EP - initially cancelling it as a whole and pushing it back, telling them that an album was now necessary. With the band disgruntled and wanting to hold the album until 2000 they eventually gave in and began thinking of a tracklist while also keeping Gorden Hoff as their penman

The band began compiling the album on the 20th of March

"In Colour"

Duration: 84 Minutes

Released: November 18, 1998

1. In Colour

2. Angel In Disguise

3. Skin And Bones

4. Dance Like You never Have

5. The Song

6. Fade With Our Voices

7. Lover

8. Hustle

9. Low

10. Brown Skin Lady

The album, though taking a while to complete, was finally finished by the band with enough happiness towards the album release. Was finished on the 25th of April

The second single was released on June 15, 1998

"The Song"

Released: 15 June, 1998

AUS: #114 [Peak: #114]

US: #59 [Peak: #59]

UK: #64 [Peak: #64]

JAP: #73 [Peak: #73]

It was then after that their album was then released to the general public

"In Colour"

AUS: #54 [Peak: #35]

US: #40 [Peak: # 39]

UK: #44 [Peak: #41]

JAP: #38 [Peak: #38]

Having a rounding success of the album - Turtle Records wanted them to put out another album in 1999 which was then put to a halt when the band disagreed and stated that they weren't going to release one every year. It was then agreed through multiple days of argumentive talking that the band were happy enough to go on a tour in the US and around Australia for a shared 150 dates to both countries to build up their reputation. The Tour began on Christmas Day
