Manufacturing facility not generating income

I lashed out money on a manufacturing factory in North America.

 

Nothing happened during the first weeks so I simmed a good while without generating any income and the manufacturing plant did not manufacture anything.

 

I've tried to test different regions, and when I build it in Asia there is activity and the plant is manufacturing for different artists.

 

However, no income is generated no matter how long I've simmed afterwards.

 

Is this a known bug or am I doing something wrong?

 

 

Otherwise totally love the game, but a bit of a pain that I don't seem to be able to generate income from manufacturing.

 

 

PS. I also have some problems with distribution facility, but it seems like if I place the distribution plant in Africa, then there's both activity and I'm generating a fair amount of cash. In North America e.g. no activity and no income.
