My sales got lowered in existing saves, so I think existing saves would be affected too. 

 

And yeah, I agree with the premise of this thread, though maybe not for all artists, but for the top tier ones for sure.

I just ran a test with Michael Jackson and he sold about 12,5 million albums, after sitting 12 weeks at #1 of the charts.

In real life it is estimated his Dangerous album sold 32 million copies worldwide and 8 million in the USA alone (wikipedia).

I would love to have more band types, such as:

Rapper + singer (2 Unlimited, Snap!)

Two singers + drummer + keyboardist (Tears for Fears)

Two singers + two keyboardists (Ace of Base)

 

Can you please add them in a future update?

It was the same save, same Monday. I only simmed 2 days. Once under update 921 and once under 922.

Let's see how update .922 treats the charts.

And just the one in the next 10. So 7 in the top 30. A lot better.

The weird thing is that I sent Michael Jackson to the studio with 99 and 100 rated songs and I made himself a 100-100-100 producer and his record was hardly better than those of my other artists/bands. The lyrics of the songs actually deteriorated in production, which annoyed me. My other band went in with songs rated around 70 and a worse producer but their record was almost just as good.

But I just checked the RealArtists.db and it can hold a major event in that one. So false alarm.

My own db which I called RealArtists2.db it wasn't so. 

So for anybody playing with a custom db which they based on RealArtists.db before the last patch, that might be the issue. That it can't.

Btw while editing I have seen that max album sales is higher than max singles sales in the USA. Maybe that's why so many album tracks are charting?

In almost all other countries I've seen the max singles is higher than the max albums.

I haven't reached it myself. Only got like 1 year into a save, then I start new ones. I mainly test what I edit, what effects it has on sales & popularity.

Maybe you've misunderstood me: there are 6 singles in the top 30 in my save, so 24 non-singles.

I'm playing retro so it kinda takes the fun out of it for me.

it's not your machine, it's your Operating System.

I create a producer with stats at 100 same with vocal and mixers. I then save them and start up a game. When my artist writes songs I do not get the option to pick the characters i just created instead i get ones with lower stats affecting my songs and overall album quality. Even when i create a venue I get the venue but the revenue take goes up  to 100 and not at the number i gave it originally. Some small bugs or maybe im doing something wrong idk. Still love this game and the progress its been making.

I'm with you, I want to be able to create perfect records with unknown starting artists.

Many times in real life I feel, the first album of an artist is the best album, or the one they're most known for. Would be nice if that can happen in the game too.
