My sales got lowered in existing saves, so I think existing saves would be affected too. And yeah, I agree with the premise of this thread, though maybe not for all artists, but for the top tier ones for sure. I just ran a test with Michael Jackson and he sold about 12,5 million albums, after sitting 12 weeks at #1 of the charts. In real life it is estimated his Dangerous album sold 32 million copies worldwide and 8 million in the USA alone (wikipedia).

It would be nice if they were excluded, especially if they haven't produced anything. Thanks.

Now they get 0. I find it unrealistic.

3 singers + band (B52s) is another example and Arrested Development (rapper + multiple singers) I can't really add them right now if I'm being true to real life. (I couldn't edit the OP)

Hello Mark, I would love to have more band types, such as: Rapper + singer (2 Unlimited, Snap!) Two singers + drummer + keyboardist (Tears for Fears) Two singers + two keyboardists (Ace of Base) Can you please add them in a future update? It would be fine if we can add them ourselves too. In my save: album sales dropped by around 70%. singles charts: 7 album tracks in the top 30 instead of 24. It was the same save, same Monday. I only simmed 2 days. Once under update 921 and once under 922.

Ok so I loaded up the same save again. Let's see how update .922 treats the charts. Singles: 4 album tracks in the top 10. So two less than last time. 3 in the next 10. And just the one in the next 10. So 7 in the top 30. A lot better. Albums: The number of copies sold dropped by like 70%!! (Mark announced it would drop this patch)

The weird thing is that I sent Michael Jackson to the studio with 99 and 100 rated songs and I made himself a 100-100-100 producer and his record was hardly better than those of my other artists/bands. The lyrics of the songs actually deteriorated in production, which annoyed me. My other band went in with songs rated around 70 and a worse producer but their record was almost just as good.

In the editor. But I just checked the RealArtists.db and it can hold a major event in that one. So false alarm. My own db which I called RealArtists2.db it wasn't so. So for anybody playing with a custom db which they based on RealArtists.db before the last patch, that might be the issue. That it can't.

Btw while editing I have seen that max album sales is higher than max singles sales in the USA. Maybe that's why so many album tracks are charting? In almost all other countries I've seen the max singles is higher than the max albums.

What kind of numbers do you want? I can look some up in my save.

I haven't reached it myself. Only got like 1 year into a save, then I start new ones. I mainly test what I edit, what effects it has on sales & popularity.

Maybe you've misunderstood me: there are 6 singles in the top 30 in my save, so 24 non-singles. I'm playing retro so it kinda takes the fun out of it for me.

Ok I'll start a new save soon (probably today) but I want to wait with this one because it's no fun having only 6 singles in the top 30. So I cranked up the number of singles that can be sold in the editor, hopefully that helps (but only with new saves)

Actually when editing I just noticed that the USA couldn't hold a major event. Maybe that's the issue?

They chart a lot (in my save). Like, too much. 6 singles in the top 30, that's it.

Haven't simmed much. But I did load up my save and simmed two days. This is what happened to the singles charts: 6 album tracks in the top 10 (all mine), and including #1 and 2. And it doesn't stop there: Another 10 album tracks, all mine. 8 more in the next 10: Etc etc. I think there are more than 50 album tracks in the top 100. (Most of them mine) In the album charts not much changed:

it's not your machine, it's your Operating System. You can change it I think. Don't ask me how, but I googled it the other day for somebody else and google said you can upgrade without buying a new Windows license.

I'm with you, I want to be able to create perfect records with unknown starting artists. Many times in real life I feel, the first album of an artist is the best album, or the one they're most known for. Would be nice if that can happen in the game too.
