Mark: Demise or Abandonment

Hey Everyone,

This community has clearly diminished, and understandably so. I'm beginning to think that Mark, the true visionary behind this project, is likely no longer with us—though that’s just an assumption.

This project has come a long way since its inception, and it would be a shame to let it die. With that said, I have expertise in development, though I haven’t worked in the field since leaving my job in 2022 to start a small consultancy business.

I’ve considered donating but decided against it due to my assumption that Mark might no longer be with us. Would you all be interested in crowd-funding to potentially acquire this project from him or his family if my assumptions are correct?

I’m open to ideas and look forward to hearing your thoughts.

I’ve been working on a simulation/management game called Late Night Empire for just over two years now. It’s all about running your own late-night talk show — booking guests, negotiating with networks, managing sponsors, and dealing with all the behind-the-scenes chaos that comes with trying to stay on top of the ratings.

You play as the show’s executive producer, making creative and strategic calls to shape your show’s tone, reputation, and success. There’s even a social-media parody called EchoStream that reacts to what happens in the game world.

Editing Database in Game??

Is there a way to edit the database in saved games and have it appear? Example. Created a Band pre-game start, for some reason, the full roster of members did not appear to fill the roles. I edited the database after the game started, and of course the edits are not showing up. Is there any way to fix?

Just found out RS2 2 is in the works, and I couldn't be happier for anyone who hasn't seen it @Markconfirmed it on Facebook while we have no release date he shared a ss and said the game will be on steam and I'm so happy I really hope the charts are fair in this game as it is probably the biggest part of gameplay for me and it sort of ruins the fun when my artist drop from #1 for no reason to never return there... i wish for consistency with #1 lengths and realistic jumps on charts and ways to promote a song to benefit a chart position i hope all of you are well and hopefully this forum is back up and running for the release of R2S 2!

R2S2 Thoughts & Theories

So this is based on R2S2 as starting working on the fictional mod with one my closest friends, got the name and logo ready but not revealing just yet. But as desperately waiting and checking for news for R2S2 I do have some thoughts and ideas on a release date, none of this is confirmed just my thoughts and want the best game there can be which R2S2 I believe can be!

1. So main thing release date I am personally thinking end of year, early next. I would love to see the mod editor out earlier for free for mod makers to get creating mods and getting them ready for launch.

2. I feel the whole rewriting means it still being worked on as it was December 2023. He said it was early days so giving everything is going according to plan should be midway through, I feel hence why nothing has been said, as a mod maker I get it you have to be careful what you give out so I do understand.

3. I am hoping next thing that comes out is add to wishlist, which will create more buzz and excitement for the project, he also stated he looked at the forums which is cool and makes me excited to see what new additions will be added.

4. Having Taylor Swift in the picture makes me think she could be used for inspiration for the direction the sequel may take. Which I am extremely excited for.

5. So the news on Facebook has dropped on Sunday's which makes me think that maybe day we get news, that may change but Mark is consistent and he does care. But I do not take the silence as anything worrying as Mark is extremely transparent which is a great thing to have as a dev, some devs can learn from him.

No tour ticket sales

Hi,

For the second tour my artist didn't sell any ticket. They have number one song, released an EP, also promoted tour (Europe Tour) at highest rated European TV shows. Artist hype is 90-100 and also marketing team recommended 55 ticket price and i lowered it to 40.

Also i booked tour rehearsal and on artist stats Tour Rehearsal was 0/100 (after over 10 dates where it should have been rehearsed).

Any help? :)

Some fairly well-known artists in the real-world database start with basically no reputation/popularity. What steps do I need to take to boost them up to where they can start getting on even the lowest-level TV shows? I've started releasing some EPs with phenomenal songs, and they're charting fairly well (basically by default as albums are just now starting to get released en masse but still). However, that has meant a boost from 1 all the way up to 3. Do I just have to dump a ton of money by buying ad spots on the shows to get them on? I hopefully got 2 of them to be openers on the Ariana Grande tour though their calendars don't show it (and I had a venue bug while trying to manually set it up so had to hit the marketing button to do it so that might have wiped it out even though it's on a different step of the proces).

Though I'm wondering if there isn't an artificial ceiling that gets assigned when you start a game (what that scout potential thing does???) because I've got a band that seems to have settled into the 30s in most regions with a 40ish in North America after their first single went #1 almost everywhere. It's fine if it is a slower grind than real life.

I had been working on a totally custom database that included pictures on every artist, band and celebs. The database is small but I plan to add more as it goes through. The only problem is I can't enjoy it as it now filled with 800 totally random artists and 25 totally random bands without pictures which just really ruins the work put in.

Did anyone tried selling their labels' shares in the public market? I sold 60% of mine earlier in the game and when I want to buy them back, I find that the price becomes too expensive. R2S Sequel/Adaption

Have you ever considered making a sequel for R2S or at least thought about adapted it into a new game? Since R2S is really the only music label game out there, I think it'd defiantly be something to consider. Once 1.3 is in a state where development can hold for it, those weekly patches can turn into weekly coding sessions for the next release and you'll have an alpha release on steam in no time!

Hi @Mark, I hope I'm doing this in the right section, anyway..it just happened to me that my artist's manager (we are talking about Dua Lipa) sent an email about the artist taking a year off and so going on hiatus. This never happened to me and I think it's a really cool feature! I wanted to ask a thing tho. I had an album ready for release, and I tried to release it (without releasing it in the end) and I was wondering if it's right that I am able to do this or if it should been completely blocked as an option. I mean, it could also make sense if a record that it's ready to go is released by the label without any support from the artist that is on hiatus (no videos, no performances etc.). Right now I will not release the record because I like this forced thing, and I'll wait until the hiatus end! This is cool

1. Mark, you said you were thinking of adding asking for collaborations & Christmas releases, when do you think (if you do) will you add them?

2. my single doesn't come on WW charts but somehow it sold more than the number 1 song

3. how come likes on YouTube are so low? normally a number 1 song reaches more than a million likes however my number 1 song reached 50k likes and then stopped gaining likes & artists with 100 rep everywhere and a number 1 single should have about 1 million likes in a few weeks (or even a week) but they only received 10k likes on first week

4. you should add where we can give a song on the album a lyric video or audio or visualizer without having a number 1 single

5. album tracks should be able to chart on the WW singles in like the top 90 or 80

6. some genre changes you could do is change Meghan Trainor & Dua Lipa to pop genre instead of African-hip hop

7. More songs aloud on tour setlists instead of up to 20 songs about 30 or even more

8. maybe a band member can leave the band instead of thake a break and the band can keep going together without the person that left. (eg. fifth harmony, one direction & litle mix have all done this)

English is not my first language so I struggle with some options in the Editor, could you please tell me what they mean and how they affect the gameplay?

Is there any way to downgrade my version? I was very happy with my game on version .921 but ever since updating I've stopped playing it because it's very agitating to spend hundreds of hours working on your label and artists' and have to start over. I was ok with starting over when moving to version 1.3 but now I just don't want to keep restarting every time.

My artist after she reached 80% up in popularity, she only gets # 1! Even with me launching only digital and streams, without any promotion and so on. ALWAYS picks up # 1, and this is unreal 😞

Album tracks' chart history

It would be nice if I were able to see where an album track charted... Some of mine have gone top 10 but there is no way to know that besides remembering it... Also, A song from the album went #1 as an album track, but it doesn't show up under chart history, even though it went #1 as both a single, and then later as an album track..

It's strange because the single "Over" went #1 for 3 weeks in the US months before repeaking at #1 as an album track... but now it won't even show up as it going #1 this week, it's like the album track and single are two different songs, because it says that over is charting at 112 in the US, but the album track is currently at #1.

First off I LOVE that you were able to allow album tracks to chart, but the fact that they are only able to be streamed and not purchased is a bit unrealistic to me. There have been many times where songs have reached #1 on iTunes just as album tracks, a recent example of this is Ariana Grande's deluxe album tracks all reaching the top 3 on iTunes. I think that it would be more realistic if they sold "Digital" sales, because to my understanding that is this game's equivalent to iTunes and other digital marketplaces.

Overall I am so in love with this game! Thank you it was so worth the wait and more! @Mark

Quality of the songs

I think it is unrealistic how easy it is to mass-produce super-high quality songs in the game. No matter how good or bad the artist is, if you send them with half-decent songs (50+ rating) to the best studio available with the best producer available they will always come back with an album full of mega-hits. It probably needs to be a bit more statistically varied. There would be some songs that can actually become a classic and top the charts and some of them may not be bad songs but they don't have that little magic that makes them hits, even if recorded with the best possible producer and with the best possible conditions.

That way a great artist with a great producer and a great studio may come back from the studio with 3-4 real bangers and a bunch of goods songs for "filler track" in the album, but not fit to release as a single and top the charts. The same way a mediocre artist working with a mediocre producer may hit the button every now and then and produce a banger; most of the songs will be mediocre and a handful of them can be really bad, but that way they may release a #1-contender single every 2-3 albums.

I've had an artist have 8 singles from the same album in the top 10 at the same time, that is even beyond Beatles' level of success, and he wasn't even 100 rep.
